Meet Sally and Larry McNabb, the couple you can’t miss when they’re cruising around town in their red convertible. What sets them apart? It’s the giant stuffed giraffe, Sprinkles, gracing their back seat.
People can’t help but take pictures, smile, and wave at the sight of this unique car companion. Sprinkles wasn’t initially intended for Sally and Larry; he was meant for their daughter. However, the parents quickly adopted Sprinkles as their own source of joy.
Sally recalls how the idea started: “I was redecorating my daughter’s bedroom, and I ordered it online, and when it came, I took it out of the box, and it happened to be sitting next to an older convertible that we had. And I just thought, ‘Gee, I bet that would look funny in the back seat!’”
The couple enjoyed their time with Sprinkles so much that they decided to keep him. He even played a crucial role one morning when he woke up Anya, one of the McNabbs’ daughters, alerting her to a neighboring boat on fire. The early warning saved their lives.
Now, Sprinkles is a regular passenger on their drives, and the McNabbs continue to share smiles and happiness with people they encounter. They believe that their unusual choice brings joy to others and emphasizes the importance of sharing blessings.
While their kids may find them a bit eccentric, Sally and Larry remain committed to brightening people’s days with Sprinkles. Whether they’re driving to run errands or going about their daily activities, Sprinkles adds an extraordinary touch to their ordinary excursions.
The McNabbs have even decorated Sprinkles for special occasions, adding rabbit ears for Easter, a mask for COVID times, and lights around his neck during Christmas.
One of the most touching moments they’ve experienced was when a grieving family approached them after a funeral, saying that seeing Sprinkles was the first time they had smiled in days.
